Elmo
Elmo comes from a long line of
champions and it shows. He
prances as he walks and stands
in a "stack" position naturally.
Elmo's American coat is thick
and soft. He weighs 40 pounds.
He is kind, and patient with kids
and small animals.
Unfortunately he also thinks he
is a lap dog and wants to cuddle
whenever we sit on the sofa or
chair.
He loves to race and run just for
the shear fun of the speed. He is
incredibly fast, leaping over
obstacles I put out, changing
direction on a dime, all the while
looking back to see if anyone is
keeping up. He would be
excellent in agility and fly ball if I
only had the time to take him.
As a father he takes on the
teaching roll. Check out the
links to videos of his fathering
skills listed on the left side of
this page.
Elmo has two sides to him, the handsome
show stud and the goofy clown. He is
showing off his new hair cut in the photo
above. And reveling in his boyishnes (left).
When Maggie was in labor, Elmo (below right) kept Pebbles (below left) out of the way.

No matter how I cut his hair, Elmo is the most beautiful dog I have ever owned.
Inside and out.

Elmo truly loves being a dad. He watches over and
protects his family, and he seems to intuitively
know how much to challenge them and when to
lay low.
He lets Maggie have the Alpha role in the pack,
waiting to eat until she is done, staying away when
she is delivering pups. But if Maggie and Pebbles
get in a girl fight, when their hormones are high,
Elmo breaks it up.
I don't know if this is the norm for the breed, but it
has been consistent from day one with Elmo. He
is more gentle than my Golden Retriever, more
playful than my Yellow Lab. He is smarter than my
Beagle and faster than any dog I have ever seen.
His feelings get easily and he doesn't forget any
scoldings he thinks was undeserved.
