I love my babies. All of them.
Many of them have new names, but to me they will
always be:

Tony, Carmella, Christopher, Adrianna, Artie, and
Meadow.

Finnegan, Darby, Riley, Doogan, Murphy, and Kelly.

Libby, Lester, Logan, Violet, Rosie, Mimsy, Molly, Sweet
Pea,and Toby.

Bert, Ernie, Oscar, Princess, Tinkerbell, Daisy Mae,and
Bonus.

Fred, Barney, Wilma, Betty BamBam and BooBoo.

Hillary and Bill, Barack and Michelle.

Puppy breath, chirping noises, the pile up of little
brown bodies, these are just a few of my favorite things
about puppies.

Wheaten puppies aren't all that different from other
puppies. They nuzzle and squirm, following their sense
of smell and warmth, until they find their mother's milk
station within moments of being freed from their sac. It
amazes me how they manage to do this with so little
help.

I can tell if the room is too warm or too cold by looking
at the litter. If it is sprawled out, single puppies
scattered around means the area is too warm. Piled
tight and fussing, it is too cold. I started keeping new
puppies in the bathtub. I can keep the temperature and
humidity controlled better there. And it is easy to clean
up. Of course, Maggie and Pebbles would prefer to
have their nest elsewhere, but they cope with my rules.

At first Maggie didn't understand that if she only had
one baby, that didn't mean she had them all. She
would take one pup to her preferred nest, in the corner
of my bedroom, and settle in as if it was the whole
litter. She figured it out and quit moving her babies,
leaving that up to me.

In fact, Maggie has given birth to two puppies on our
beds while we slept. There is nothing like waking up to
the sound of a newborn puppy!
