Note:
The barking in the background of several of the videos is
from the dogs that live next door.

While Wheatens are capable of barking, it is not the deep
bark of the retriever nor the sharp bark of a little dog.

How to deal with a bored dog

Soft Coated Wheaten Terriers are a very playful
breed. If you don't give them something to do,
they will find it.

I change the environment often; rearrange the
furniture, make obstacles in the yard, fence off
different parts of the home or yard.

I also make toys by combining toys, put balls
inside toilet paper tubes, and hide treats under
hard to reach places.

I tied a ball with a rope to a low hanging branch
in the back yard. They didn't play with it for
weeks, then one day it became the favorite thing
in the world and continues to be played with
most days.

Why you want to get your dog
spayed or neutered

When the girls are in heat I need to keep them
separate from Elmo for a couple weeks unless I want
to have a litter of puppies.

Part of that time, Elmo is miserable and whines while
the girls ignore him. I call it the playing hard to get
stage.
